At its arrival from England is moved by small Block
Chevrolet, the famous 350 Cubic Inch, it was a really hight RPM range motor instead of american's V8 witch are reputed to be bass register maker. Very loudy engine, without any contact with a monkey wrench posed on a reversed bucket will fall down under the warm up's vibrations. Little trick, to recognize a Small Block versus a Big Block Chevrolet is easy, look at the gap between the 2 inner exhausts. On touch : it's a Small block, exhaust strictly arranged with a regular distance : it's a Big one. |

After 4 year on the frame, the engine is changed for a 454 C.I coming from the
Gilles Céron's Pontiac, At this time everything is becoming larger. All in torque, launching on wheeling, and after 6
runs the right axle is twisted. Original parts are changed for strong Mark Williams'ones. This engine is famous by a run made on semi-final Prostock at Orange in 1990, only 7 cylinders were in order, during the last run a rocker had divorced from his pushrod. Drawing is signed Yvan Brossard (Automotive Illustrator). |
This is it, the engine is open ! Early june 2010 the block is entirely emptied. Everything is dismantled for checking, pistons, rods, manifold, crankshaft. No unpleasent surprise, a little bit of grey thick matter on oil pan (wear résidue). All will be rebuilt to new. The block and oil pan had suffered of roist attack on the last winter. Detail shot of the pistons (TRW) and head gasket. Copper gasket are used on blue printing for race. |
